Reston has an abundance of bikeable trails, streets and sidewalks that make commuting by bike easy. Reston Town Center offers public visitor bicycle parking, as well as many Capital Bikeshare stations nearby.  

The Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail runs through the heart of Reston Town Center and provides a paved trail with various destinations, spanning between Loudoun and Arlington.

Capital Bikeshare is the DC Metro area’s public bikeshare service, with 4,300 bikes and 500+ stations across six6 jurisdictions. Reston is home to numerous Capital Bikeshare locations, making it a convenient way to navigate the area around Reston.  

You can take a bike from any docking station and ride to your destination for as little as $0.05 per minute. You can also purchase a day pass or annual membership to unlock bikes and take unlimited rides of up to 45 minutes for free, plus get discounted rides on e-bikes (normally $0.15 per minute). 

There are three Capital Bikeshare stations within a five-minute walk of Reston Town Center: 

  • Town Center Pkwy & Sunset Hills Rd (RTC West) 
  • Reston Town Center Metro Station North 
  • Sunset Hills Rd & Discovery Square

Once you’re done with your ride, just park it at any bikeshare station near your destination. If you’re using a Capital Bikeshare e-bike, which may be black or silver, you can also use the attached cable to lock the e-bike to any public bike rack within the service area for an extra $2.00 fee.
